CLARICE THEYSTHE first solo exhibition of the young and exceptionally talented Anja Benseler is opening on Friday at the Fine Art Gallery in Swakopmund.
Visitors to the Omaruru Artist Trail, held earlier this year, had the opportunity to see some of her works and the overall reaction was totally overwhelming.
The quietude and serenity of our desert landscapes is the inspiration behind her work.
Being alone without feeling lonely provides the ability to reconnect with one’s thoughts and feelings in the absence of distraction and noise. The absolute vastness and complete nothingness of the Namib Desert captures exactly that sentiment.
Benseler combines minimal compositions with detailed realism on large, horizontal canvasses and gloriously succeeds in capturing the limitlessness of the land.
Peter Reiner from Wordweaver will inaugurate the exhibition titled ‘Solitude’ which promises to be a highlight amongst all exhibitions thus far for 2015. It opens at 17h30.
