THE Veterinary Association of Namibia celebrates World Veterinary Day tomorrow and the theme for this year is ‘Veterinarians and livestock farmers – a winning partnership’.
This day is a means to promote the valuable services veterinarians can provide in all spheres of animal health. The relevance of veterinary services for Namibian livestock farmers could not be greater than now with heavy rainfalls and widespread flooding creating new animal disease risks. The best person to assist livestock farmers in preventing and treating animal disease is their veterinarian. A list of private and State veterinarians is available on the website www. van.org.na or in the telephone directory for your convenience.Veterinarians can also assist livestock farmers in many other areas such as improving fertility and calving/lambing percentages; control of internal and external parasites; public health aspects; and the correct handling, storage and administration of medicines, vaccines and vitamins. The Veterinary Association of Namibia would like to invite all livestock farmers to fully utilise their veterinarians.
