Veterans tractors delivered

MINISTER of Veterans’ Affairs Nicky Iyambo yesterday inspected 46 tractors that the ministry bought for veterans’ projects countrywide. Veterans can apply for project funding up to N$200 000.

Hochland Tractor Centre, which supplied the tractors, included ploughs, full tanks of diesel, canopies and delivery in the sale price. The ministry has bought 100 tractors in total for veterans’ projects. ‘Veterans who demand N$200 000 in cash can forget about it, we will only help veterans who have projects and we do not give them cash, we help the projects by giving them aid like these tractors,’ said Iyambo. Most veterans’ projects run by men ask for tractors, taxis and livestock, while projects run by women ask for sewing machines, tents, catering equipment and help in establishing restaurants. Veterans who apply for aid need to supply the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs with three quotations and the ministry pays the suppliers directly for the required materials.
