NAMIBIA is mourning the death of veteran musician Gonny Klazen (63), who died of a heart attack at his home in Rehoboth on Wednesday evening.
The founding member and owner of the Reho Combo Langarm Band was probably the most seasoned langarm musician in Namibia.His music prowess took him to countries like China, Germany, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Gonny studied music at the University of Cape Town, majoring in classical guitar, and he further upgraded his music knowledge at the College of the Arts, where he was also music lecturer.A multi-instrumentalist, Gonny also taught children from Rehoboth how to play instruments like the keyboard, guitar, drums and the saxophone.He was also very good with the penny whistle. He is survived by his wife Engela and his two daughters, Natalie and Raquel.Gonny will be buried at Rehoboth next Saturday, February 25.
