Usakos mayor Irene Kurtz says she is positive about the Erongo region town’s election mood and atmosphere ahead of the regional council and local authority elections on Wednesday.
She describes the mood as calm and peaceful.
Her wish is for voters who are far from polling stations, especially senior citizens, to be assisted with transport by those who are able to do so.
Kurtz said this in a statement on Tuesday.
“I am looking forward to seeing our first-time voters in the queue, those born in 2007 are eligible to vote,” she said.
Kurtz urged the youth to go out and vote.
“By doing so, your voice is heard, and you have the right to keep your councillors accountable,” she said.
She added that from the look of things she does not foresee too many long queues at polling stations.
However, she advised all voters to be up early and to go cast their vote to have a legitimate say in the affairs of the town.
She called on everyone at Usakos, including the district of Karibib, to go out in numbers and vote.
