US hunts for 3 missing soldiers in Iraq

BAGHDAD – The US military was searching yesterday for three American soldiers who went missing in an al Qaeda stronghold near Baghdad after a raid killed five members of a joint US-Iraqi patrol.

North of the capital, a truck bomb near the office of a leading Kurdish political party killed at least 30 people and wounded 50 in the town of Makhmour.
