United States (US) ambassador to Namibia Randy Berry has retired after less than two years in the country.
Berry’s departure was confirmed by the embassy’s spokesperson, Tiffany Miller, yesterday.
The embassy was taken over by chargé d’affaires Brandon Hudspeth.
Miller said Berry chose to retire for personal reasons on 1 January.
“[This is] after a distinguished 30-plus-year career with the US government. He served as US ambassador to Namibia from February 2023 until December 2024,” she said.
In his farewell message, Berry expressed gratitude for the generosity and determination of Namibians, which was demonstrated in partnerships to improve development and youth empowerment.
