THE United Africa Group (UAG) has acquired two more hotels, one at Henties Bay and another in Oshakati, bringing UAG’s hospitality portfolio to 11 hotels.
UAG recently completed the deal for its latest acquisitions – the one-star, 20-bedroom De Duine Hotel at Henties Bay, and the three-star, 47-bedroom Oshakati Country Hotel in Oshakati.
Both hotels were formerly owned by Namibia Country Lodges, and are said to have been sold to UAG for over N$20 million.
Group Executive Director Haddis Tilahun said the acquisitions were in line with UAG’s expansion plans.
‘This acquisition forms part of our primary strategy of increasing our footprint in the Namibian hospitality industry,’ he said.
Both hotels are set to undergo renovations to meet UAG standards, which require a minimum three-star rating.
Other hotels in UAG’s hospitality portfolio include the African Pride Burning Shore Hotel in Walvis Bay, the Eliakim Namundjebo Plaza Hotel which is currently under construction in Windhoek, and other hotels across the country, including at Lüderitz, Katima Mulilo, Ondangwa, Oshakati, Walvis Bay and Windhoek.
