Under-20s out of Cup

THE Namibia national under-20 football team crashed out of the African Youth Cup Championships when they lost 4-1 on aggregate against DRC at the weekend.

Namibia lost 3-0 on their away leg in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and failed to reverse that score after only pulling a 1-1 draw against the same side in their home leg at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Friday night.Chief Santos striker Kenny Malgas, who was called to the side after key frontman Lazarus Kaimbi was injured in a league match, scored the only goal for the home side. The DRC led 1-0 at half-time but were well contained by the Namibians in the second half and could not score any goals. The young side will now focus on the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) Games which will be held in Windhoek in June. The Namibian side will play their opening match against Zambia and will be expected to do well in the tournament, as they will be the hosts. The games will take place from June 26 until July 4.Nampa reports that assistant coach Waga Waga Goagoseb said the same team will be called for training to prepare for the Games.Namibia lost 3-0 on their away leg in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and failed to reverse that score after only pulling a 1-1 draw against the same side in their home leg at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Friday night.Chief Santos striker Kenny Malgas, who was called to the side after key frontman Lazarus Kaimbi was injured in a league match, scored the only goal for the home side. The games will take place from June 26 until July 4.Nampa reports that assistant coach Waga Waga Goagoseb said the same team will be called for training to prepare for the Games.
