University of Namibia student and model Alica Mokhatu (23) has been named Miss Charm Namibia 2025 and will represent the country in Vietnam in December.
Mokhatu, who is from Okahandja, recently made it to the top 10 finalists at the Miss Namibia 2025 pageant.
She was selected for her strong voice in raising awareness of mental health and is the founder of a youth organisation called Empowering Young Voices.
The organisation works to help young people understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour.
“Through this programme, we run workshops to teach people about the importance of mental health and to support those who may be struggling,” she says.
Describing herself as carefree, creative and driven, Mokhatu says being awarded the Miss Charm Namibia title is a big step forward.
“This is more than just a title – it’s a dream come true and a chance to push Namibia forward on the global stage,” she says.
“I come from a small town, but I have big dreams and believe that with faith, purpose and hard work, anything is possible.”
As part of her journey to the Miss Charm International pageant, Mokhatu says she will focus on her advocacy work through Empowering Young Voices.
“My goal is to speak up for those who feel left out or unseen. This platform gives me the chance to help others find the power of their own voice and believe in their ability to create change,” she says.
Miss Charm International contestants are judged on physical strength, stage presence, intelligence, cultural understanding, and community work, she says.
More than 50 women from around the world are expected to compete in this year’s edition of the pageant.
So far, Namibia is the first African country taking part in this year’s event, and Mokhatu is Namibia’s second-ever representative to take part in the contest.
The first was former Miss Namibia second runner-up Georgia Garises, who made it to the top 10 at the international competition.
National director of Miss Charm Namibia Bobby Kaanjosa believes Mokhatu will do well on the international stage.
“We are very excited to have her as part of the team. She is passionate about making a difference in her community and has shown strong leadership through her organisation,” he says.
The Miss Charm Namibia title is managed by the Walk by Bobby Kaanjosa Institute.
