Unam Radio Must Take On Students

Unam Radio Must Take On Students

THANK you for the opportunity granted to me in your ‘still telling it like it is’ paper.

I would love to comment on an issue here at the University of Namibia, specifically at Unam radio. Most of us media students here at Unam, or to be more specific, more than 90 per cent of us here, do not get much chance to work or do anything in the line of our career at the Unam radio. This community radio station is inundated with people who are not even Unam or media students and some even have other fulltime jobs for that matter.I feel that we as media students should be entitled to facilities such as these because in the past, media students specifically have graduated without getting access to things like this, which is a problem because it makes it hard for them to find work because of lack of experience, which the Unam radio could have provided.I am not saying that the existing workers should get fired, but at least give us media students a chance to gain practical knowledge in our field of study. And I am not saying that they should make us deejays but at least put us on the production suits or something like that. Please consider this.Jacques Mushaandja Via e-mailMost of us media students here at Unam, or to be more specific, more than 90 per cent of us here, do not get much chance to work or do anything in the line of our career at the Unam radio. Please consider this.Jacques Mushaandja Via e-mail
