Uis to host first investment conference

The Erongo Regional Council will host the first Uis Investment Conference on 4 July to shed light on emerging investment and sustainable development within the Dâures constituency.

Under the theme, ‘Uis in Transition – Mining, Tourism and Beyond’, the conference aims to position Uis as a viable investment destination, driven by growing opportunities in mining, tourism, housing, logistics, retail, and infrastructure development.

“The conference further aims to demonstrate how mining and tourism activities in and around Uis can serve as catalysts for development, job creation, and economic diversification. Conversely, the conference will explore ways in which good local authority governance can drive sustainable growth in municipal areas,” says chief regional officer Mpezeni Ntelamo.

Uis currently hosts the Dâures Green Hydrogen Village, Africa’s first net-zero green community. Located approximately 90 kilometres west of Uis, the project integrates solar and wind energy to produce green hydrogen and ammonia.

“The Erongo Regional Council cordially invites all potential investors (in retail, housing, manufacturing, warehousing, tourism, logistics, etc.) to join this exciting transitional journey that unlocks the investment potential at Uis. The conference will be attended by key decision-makers and industry leaders,” Ntelamo adds.
