Two women were raped at Khorixas and Outjo in the Kunene region over the weekend.
Kunene crime investigation coordinator deputy commissioner Paavo Iyambo says a woman (26) was raped at the 7de Laan informal settlement on Friday between 00h00 and 03h00.
Iyambo says the woman went to sleep in a tent with her boyfriend and woke up while she was being raped by Cetrick Kavendje (31).
Kavendje appeared in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was denied bail. Police investigations continue.
At Khorixas on Saturday at around 02h00, a woman (21) was raped, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend (27).
This was after the ex-boyfriend allegedly assaulted the current boyfriend and forced the victim at knife point to go to his room, where he raped her.
The ex-boyfriend is expected to appear in the Khorixas Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
