Two raped over the weekend

A 32-year-old woman who is mute was allegedly raped and assaulted at Okatunda village in the Okankolo constituency, Oshikoto region, in the early hours of Saturday morning, between 00h00 and 03h00.

This was announced in the weekend crime report by police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi on Sunday afternoon.

The woman was reportedly attacked behind Omulunga Combined School while walking home from local cucashops. Police say the suspect beat her before raping her.

“The victim was observed with a swollen face and eyes by her guardian and pointed out the scene as well as the house where the suspect resides.

“The suspect, a 19-year-old male and pupil at Omulunga Combined School is arrested. Police investigations continue,” Shikwambi says.

In a separate incident at Otjiwarongo, a woman (27) was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend (29) in an abandoned house behind the Catholic Church at Orwetoveni.

The incident occurred around 00h01 on Sunday. The suspect and victim reportedly have two minor children and have been separated for a year.

The suspect has been arrested, and police investigations continue.
