Two men killed in separate weekend stabbings at Rehoboth and Okahao

Two men who died in unrelated violent incidents reported at Rehoboth and Okahao over the weekend.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi revealed this in the police’s weekend crime report on Sunday.

She says a man (21) died after being involved in a fight during an attempted robbery at Block B, Rehoboth.

According to the police, the incident happened between 23h00 on Saturday and 01h00 on Sunday near a veterinary practice.

It is alleged that the victim (28) was on his way home after watching soccer at a local bar when he was approached by three men who robbed him of his cellphone and stabbed his left cheek.

The victim reportedly fought back, hitting one of the robbers with his fists.

“When police officers on patrol arrived at the scene, they found one of the suspects unconscious,” the police say.

The injured suspect was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, but later died while receiving treatment.

The deceased’s body is being kept at St Mary’s Hospital mortuary, and a postmortem will be conducted.

Shikwambi says his next of kin have been informed, and the victim was also admitted to hospital for treatment. Police investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, an Angolan man was fatally stabbed at Okathitu Kambanda village at Ogongo on Friday night.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 22h46 when the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim once in the chest with a sharp object. The victim died at the scene.

Shikwambi says the suspect, who is known to the police, fled the scene.

The motive behind the incident is not known.

The deceased’s age and surname are also unknown, and police investigations continue.
