Two die in Oshikoto accident

Police in the Oshikoto region have reported a fatal car accident in which two people lost their lives.

The accident occurred on Saturday at around 13h00 along the B1 road between Ondangwa and Omuthiya.

“A driver of a pickup carrying 10 occupants was driving from Ongha village in the Ohangwena region to attend a birthday party at Omutsegwonime village in the Oshikoto region, when along the way the rear tyre burst causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then overturned,” reported Oshikoto police commissioner Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku.

One passenger reportedly died on the spot, while the other died on the way to the hospital at Onandjokwe.

The deceased, aged 48 and 67, have been identified but their names have not been provided yet. Their next of kin have been informed.
