The police have reported two deaths in a head-on collision between a bus and a minibus on Tuesday. The accident took place 57km north of Otjiwarongo.

Senior inspector Maureen Mbeha, the head of the community policing sub-division in the Otjozondjupa region, said the bus was on its way from Oshakati to Windhoek.

According to the onboard monitoring equipment of the bus, the minibus overtook another vehicle, causing a head-on collision with the bus.

‘’Two female passengers died during the accident. The one from the bus died on the scene, while the one from the minibus, who was seriously injured, died on the way to hospital. The bus driver sustained injuries to both legs and will be transferred to Ondangwa Medi-Clinic,” she said.

Mbeha said passengers with minor and serious injuries were transported to Otjiwarongo State Hospital. Police investigations continue.
