Two children drown at Ogongo

Two five-year-old children drowned in the Ogongo constituency of the Omusati region after they were left to look after goats by two teenagers.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, in the police weekend crime report, said the two teenagers allegedly left three young children outside the mahangu field while they went to cultivate in the field.

While the teenagers were cultivating the field, one of the three children went to report that the two children had gone into the water, Shikwambi said.

By the time the two teenagers arrived at the scene, the two children had already drowned.

According to Shikwambi, the guardians of the children were at a certain village where they were mourning a family member who recently died.

The children’s remains were transported to the Okahao police mortuary for autopsy purposes.

Their next of kin have been informed of their deaths.
