Two arrested in alleged gang rape incident in Ohangwena

The police in the Ohangwena region have arrested two of four male suspects who reportedly gang raped a 41-year-old woman at Opalasha location at Eenhana.

The police crime investigations coordinator for Ohangwena deputy commissioner Melanie Mbuuru says the incident occurred on Sunday night.

According to Mbuuru, the woman reportedly went home with her boyfriend, who is one of the suspects, after they had been out drinking.

While at the suspect’s house, the three other suspects joined them and allegedly had sexual intercourse with the woman on the instruction of her boyfriend.

They then allegedly assaulted the woman.

Mbuuru states that two suspects, aged 16 and 24, have been apprehended while the other two suspects are still at large.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Police investigations continue.
