NAMIBIAN wheelchair cyclist Frans ‘Tupac’ Paulus says he is happy with the time he clocked at the Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge in George, South Africa, on Saturday.
Paulus came seventh overall in the South African competition. He said the competition was tough because the South African competitors all have personal coaches.’I do not have a coach, but I sincerely hope that I will have a personal coach one day. I must beat those guys,’ said Paulus told Nampa.The top Namibian wheelchair cyclist competed with a state-of-the-art wheelchair given to him by Ninda Enterprise and the Challenged Athlete Fund (CAF), an organisation that provides funding for equipment, training and competition for physically challenged athletes worldwide.The new wheelchair arrived in Namibia on January 24 this year.Paulus thanked the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund for sponsoring his air fare to and from South Africa.He also called on the local private sector to provide financial assistance to physically challenged athletes.His next cycling challenge will take place in Cape Town on May 7. – Nampa
