WITH three albums under their belts, duo Twazis promise to keep Namibia dancing to their unique sounds.
Prior to the launch of their new single ‘Skitti’ tomorrow at Chopsi’s, The Namibian had a sit-down with the duo to talk about their new music and forthcoming album ‘Critical But Stable’, which they announced will be released mid-September.
Describing the sound of their new single, Eldazz and Raxa revealed that it is a house song and the music video will be out at the end of the month. It is interesting to note that there has always been a certain energy they portray within their music, and with their upcoming album, Raxa shared that what separates it from all their previous projects is that although it is a dance album, it also carries songs with emotional lyrical content.
“The album is more mature. We have grown a lot as artists and we were not afraid to tell the truth and be vulnerable. We challenged ourselves thus it is not what people are used to hearing from us. It is more personal and emotional but at the same time, it comprises of turn-up songs for the festive season,” said Eldazz.
“We did not limit ourselves to only doing ma //gaisa music. As always we make music in different genres, but we take pride in making music in our native language which is Damara/Nama. We took our language and merged it with different sounds,” added Raxa.
Although they did not disclose the artists featured on ‘Critical But Stable’, Eldazz mentioned that the album will be mixed and mastered by Elvo. Raxa also acknowledged that production-wise, they worked with a lot of upcoming producers as they wanted new and different sounds. As is tradition with most of their albums, they shared that the promotional plan is to go on a national tour and have activations at malls in different towns.
“We release our albums every two years as that gives us time to adequately promote it. When the album drops, we will follow it up with a national tour and music videos,” said Raxa, concluding that they have invested in the merchandise business and their clothing line will be available for sale soon.
