A 30-year-old student nurse at Tsumeb State Hospital was among three people suspected of taking their lives in separate incidents reported over the weekend.
Mathilde Alfeus (30) was found dead in her room at the Saamstaan location at Tsumeb on Friday.
A suicide note was discovered at the scene and her family has been informed.
In a separate incident the same day, Raeza Fischer (27) was found dead at a house at Okahandja Park in Windhoek. A note was also recovered.
At Oshifo settlement in the Omusati region, the body of a 21-year-old Angolan national, identified as Wanekeni Ndivayele, was found early Saturday morning. No suicide note was found.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi describes the incidents as deeply alarming.
“Suicide continues to claim lives across age groups, and we urge anyone experiencing emotional distress or hopelessness to reach out for support,” she says.
“We further call on families, friends, community leaders and institutions to be proactive in offering help and creating safe environments for those at risk.”
All next of kin have been notified and police investigations continue.
