Tsakana to represent at Miss Universe Pageant

R
eigning Miss Namibia, Tsakana Nkandih, will be heading to the mother of all beauty pageants, the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant, which takes place in December.
The Namibian beauty, who was crowned in August, will be amongst 80 contestants from around the world who will be vying for the Miss Universe crown.

‘I am excited. I have already started preparing for the pageant, besides giving up some of my favourite foods, I am exercising and reading more, trying to get both my body and mind ready for the pageant,’ she said.
Tsakana said she do her best to represent Namibia positively at Miss Universe.
‘My main aim is to try and portray what Namibia is to me, its diversity and heritage as well as the kindness of its people and its hospitality,’ she said.
With regards to her traditional and official costumes, she said although she has not made a final decision yet, she has some ideas.
‘For the traditional costume we are thinking of going with either Himba or Kavango traditional wear,’ she said. ‘Cobus Moller will be designing the official gown.’
Tsakana will be working with various charities during the year of her reign.
‘At the moment I am working closely with the Red Cross, but I am also busy researching other charities to work with. I ask the Namibian public to help me identify organisations that need assistance,’ she said.
The 2012 Miss Universe Pageant will be broadcast from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday, December 19.
