That’s agoda.com, an accommodation booking site, drumming up hype for its mobile application. Taking the best of what has made Agoda the go-to booking site for travellers from all over the world since 2005, the app slashes the price and puts the search in your pocket.

Though finding accommodation is one of the most daunting things about travel, Agoda makes it easy and available on the go. Currently listing over 1 400 000 options for accommodation including apartments, hotels, guest houses, hostels, villas and even tents, the application has something for everyone and can be customised to find the perfect digs.

To get started, you will need to register on agoda.com and use the login details on the app which you can download from Google Play or the app store. Here you can make use of Agoda’s most helpful features, the best of which are its filters.

Once you’ve decided where you want to go, you’re going to want to find a certain type of accommodation offering particular facilities (gym, spa, internet, wheelchair access) within a ballpark price range.

To do so, once you’ve typed in your destination, number of travellers, desired number of rooms and dates and hit search, select ‘Sort and Filter’ and adjust the filters to only see properties above a certain user rating, within a certain price range, a particular area and of your desired accommodation type. You can also change the app’s language to one of 40 and adjust the currency to your own. Unfortunately, NAD isn’t yet on the list but you can select ZAR to see the price in a money language you understand.

Also offering hi-res images of the rooms and properties as well as over 15 million verified traveller reviews commenting on whether the pitch equals the experience, Agoda presents this all in one app it describes as offering “even lower prices than our own website! The Agoda app is your best tool for finding and booking the very best deals on any kind of accommodation, anywhere in the world”.

The app can come in particularly handy when you show up and your accommodation is not quite what was advertised. Then simply click ‘Find a Hotel Near Me’ and see other options if you at least like the area or ‘Compare to Similar Properties’ regardless of the location.

Agoda’s app also allows you to manage and amend your booking at any time while offering awesome insider, last-minute and secret deals as well as a run-down on nearby local attractions replete with the distance the sight to see is from your accommodation.

Tip: Click on ‘Total Stay’ when changing your price display to ZAR as this includes any taxes and fees that may be applicable and have your Agoda booking voucher or ID handy in print or pulled up on your phone when checking in.
