Tribute to our uncle – Toivo ya Toivo

THE birth of our mother nation Namibia 14 years ago was due to the heroic struggle and works of many committed and dedicated liberation fighters.

Honourable Andimba Hermann Toivo Ya Toivo is a name that clearly stands out in the genesis of our nation. He dedicated his entire life to the freedom of his people and the nation now enjoys and eats the fruits of the harvest. Two brothers Isak and Philemon Nahum sometimes wondered how life would have been, if we had not gone to live with our uncle in 1989, at the ages of six and eight years respectively. At first we resented being away from our mother but soon adapted to the idea of living with him and our aunt.We never grasped the relevance of our move to our Uncle’s until we could comprehend what he envisaged for us in life.We soon realised that our uncle was strict in enforcing discipline; hated lies, thieves and lazy people. There are no words to describe how grateful we are and always will be to a man we have known to have great honour, integrity, principles and firm moral beliefs.Uncle always mentions that life is hard in the real world; he is trying his best to mould us into well-educated, cultured and respectful exemplary citizens who can stand on their own.We wish our Uncle happy 80th Birthday and many more blessed years. We thank him for having been a wonderful fatherly figure to us.Uncle is our inspiration and an exemplary role model to all as he is loyal, loving, caring and a mentor to us.We love you uncle more than words can ever mention.Isak Mekondjo Nahum Philemon Kandiwapa NahumHe dedicated his entire life to the freedom of his people and the nation now enjoys and eats the fruits of the harvest. We thank him for having been a wonderful fatherly figure to us.Uncle is our inspiration and an exemplary role model to all as he is loyal, loving, caring and a mentor to us.We love you uncle more than words can ever mention.Isak Mekondjo Nahum Philemon Kandiwapa Nahum
