Namibian triathletes excelled at the World Triathlon Development Regional Cup in the Kenyan coastal town of Kilifi this morning, with Maja Brinkmann winning a gold medal and Nathan Chase a silver medal.
In the elite women’s race, Brinkmann was first out of the water and maintained a solid lead on the bike and running legs to finish a comfortable winner.
Jana Mutschler was fifth out of the water and maintained position to the end despite a small tumble on the bike when a dog ran in front of her.
Chase was first out of the water first in elite men’s race, but was caught by a Mauritian athlete on the bike leg and eventualy finished second.
Matt Reece was 7th out of the water, and dropped back to 8th position on the bike, but improved on the run to finish 4th overall.
In the Youth Ladies category, Kyra Marshall was 4th out of the water and maintained that position to the end.
