Trending in Fashion this Summer

No matter the time of year, we all know that everybody wants to always look their very best.

As the days get a little bit longer and warmer and the need to be scantily clad is ever increasing, we spoke to some of our ultra-fashionable faves to find out from them what they see in the cards for the upcoming season of fashion. Wide leg pants, bright colors and summer bodies seem to be leading the pack, but let’s find out what else they had to say.

This model/mogul is the epitome of elegance and class. As one of the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week heads, he always makes sure he is on his A-game style wise, and has noted with satisfaction an increase in the amount of men who are taking better care of their looks.

He seems very excited to wear shorts, vests, shades and caps, but notes that skin care and self-care will be the biggest trend come spring.

As a stylist who works behind the scenes to bring big looks together, Vaeta is excited to usher in the sweltering hot days. She hopes you see people wearing brighter colours such as ‘Bottega’ green.

The next thing she sees many fashionable Namibians rocking are tailored vests, as she finds them versatile, cool and not too heavy.

Namibia’s most recent Forbes 30 Under 30 laureate is one person you will never catch slipping. He is always slaying head to toe, with his androgynous sense of style and natural gravitation towards glamour. For him, this season is all about wide leg pants, athleisure wear and monochromatic outfits.

He says sports looks can be made to look fun and vibrant, while predicting that wearing base palettes like black and white will be seen a lot.

As one of Namibia’s top models, Leena Shipwata has definitely worn her fair share of designer gear and has picked up a trick or two in her long modelling journey.

She too picked crochet dresses and tops as a must-have item in every closet, excited about bringing an old-school trend back, while as an accessory, the media personality says she cannot live without large hoop earrings, saying that one can never go wrong with them.

The fashion designer behind Her, Nandi cut straight to the chase with not only some must-have items, but tips on how to style and pair them. She suggested flared skirts to be paired with a cute bustier top and one’s favorite sneakers.

Next she named floral chiffon wide leg pants with an infinity top (one that can be worn in multiple ways) and sandals.

“As we observe fashion, we see a lot of trends circle back. Last year it was elements from the 90s and this year it’s elements of the 2000s fashion,” says the fashion blogger.

For this next fashion cycle she anticipates flared leggings, crop tops and cute halter tops, floral dresses and cottage core aesthetics. She is also leaning towards prints, especially neon and brightly coloured ones.
