Deep Yellow’s Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration this week donated a set of training equipment worth about N$55 000 to the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (Nimt) to enrich hands-on learning experiences for students across various mechanical engineering courses at Nimt.
According to Nimt executive director Ralph Bussel, the equipment will play a crucial role in assisting students to develop skills in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and industrial applications by providing them with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
“Our goal is to offer hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge that prepares students for employment in any practical industry. The generous donation of a compressor and table saw will greatly enhance our ability to meet the industry’s needs. This donation will not only improve our teaching capabilities but also significantly reduce our annual expenses,” he said.
Reptile Mineral Resources and Exploration manager Katrin Kärner reiterated the importance of institutions like Nimt that serve as National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres.
“We are committed to supporting Nimt’s mission of addressing the skills gap in the job market and offering diverse career opportunities for lifelong learning and professional growth,” Kärner said.
