Track Your Period

Every woman knows how frustrating it is to get a period, especially when you least expect it. But now, thanks to the evolution of technology, app developers (who consisted of scientists), have developed a way to track your period, or at least give you an idea of when it is starting so that you can be prepared for it.

‘Period Planner’, for example, allows you to manage your cycle “scientifically”. The process is easy: All you have to do is select which dates you had your period, select your regular cycle duration and your app will give you an idea of how many days you have before you next period is due. The app also allows you to keep a set period diary where you can write about how heavy your flow is and how you normally feel – ranging from very happy to very sad.

And as you know, menstruation includes a lot of symptoms including acne, cramps, headaches, back aches, tender breasts, body aches, nausea and even neck aches. If you’re really serious about it, you can enter details about you temperature and your weight at the time, including a few other notes that might help you explain what is going on with your body. Once you continuously use the app, you can understand the average days of your cycle.

Twitter user @Christ_Got_Me said she uses the ‘My Calendar’ app. “It has been extremely efficient. It warns you two days before. One can also record their weight and moods. I’d definitely recommend it.”

And there are plenty more. The mobile app ‘Clue’ has one of the biggest number of users in the world – over eight million to be exact. Developed by tech company BioWink GmbH, the app is responsible for predicting your premenstrual syndromes and your fertile period, that is, when you are most likely to fall pregnant. If you’re someone who’s quite forgetful, the app features alarms which can remind you to take certain pills with a bit of information on how it will affect our fertility. The more details you give it about your lifestyle, the better.

But not all apps have to be serious. There are a couple of awesome period trackers that bring a bit of colour to your phone including ‘My Menstrual Diary’, ‘Spot On’ and ‘Monthly Gift’. And the best thing about period tracker apps is that some can assist you when it comes to birth control. That’s right. Depending on which pill you use, the apps often help you mark off the days you’ve taken the pill and keep you on track with your sexual health.
