Toromba, Akwenye can now play

FORMER Brave Warriors players Hartman Toromba and Nelson Akwenye recently got their clearances from German-based Germania Gattenfelt to turn out for their respective teams in Namibia.

The two could not play for Black Africa (Toromba) and Tigers (Akwenye), at the start of the second round, after the German Verbandliga side (Germania), could not clear them to play for any other side. The two players were initially taken up by Belbert FC for trials which plays in the German Oberliga, but could not join the team as their agents failed to apply in time for their clearances. This move did also not allow them to turn out for their domestic clubs in Namibia when they returned at the end of last year.Applications for their clearances were supposed to be made three months in advance for trials with another club. The Namibia Football Association (NFA) and club officials of both teams confirmed to The Namibian Sport that the two can now play in the local league as they were now cleared. Both players at the weekend said they were happy to be given the go-ahead to perform for their clubs which are both placed in mid-table.Tigers will need Akwenye upfront to partner Dokkies Schmidt who was recently called up to the national team, while Toromba will be required to take his place in BA’s defence, which has so far done well despite his absence. Both also expressed strong desires to work their way back into the national team, which faces Angola on May 9 in a Cosafa Castle Cup match in Luanda.
