UNWRAP.ONLINEFIRST National Bank Namibia will host an Africa Day concert on 25 May to celebrate African unity, diversity and talent.
The concert would bring artists from Namibia, Ghana, Eswatini, Lesotho and Botswana to the living rooms of thousands of people across the continent.
The Africa Day concert, a first of its kind, will be a mix of music, song and dance, showcasing performers from diverse backgrounds, collaborating to create Afro-inspired musical magic.
“Last year, our brand pushed boundaries in adding value to customers’ lives in a time of uncertainty, and this reflected in our efforts to offer relief to individuals and businesses, coupled with keeping our doors open as an essential service,” says Tracy Eagles, FNB Namibia chief marketing officer.
“Our industry-leading digital platform enabled our customers to manage their finances in the comfort of their homes. On Africa Day we will once again use the digital space to bring our customers, and all Africans, a concert never seen before.
“Many events have been forced to go online, often at the expense of experience that makes them so powerful. However, we think the fusion of live performance and online interaction delivers the best of both worlds. We believe the online concert experience will open a new musical world to all Africans,” adds Eagles.
Featured artists include, TopCheri (Namibia), PDK (Namibia), Sands (Eswatini), Velemseni (Eswatini), KhoiSan (Botswana), Mophato Dance Theatre (Botswana), Ntate Stunna (Lesotho), Botala ba Linare (Lesotho), and Yaw Tog (Ghana).
Speaking on being selected to perform, PDK say they are ready to woo the crowd after a while of not performing live and representing Namibia.
“We’re very excited to be part of the concert […], as there will be a live band too. It’s been a long time since we had a big gig representing the country. It’s an honour. We hope everyone joins in and celebrates this day with us,” they said.
The concert is free for streaming on the FNB Namibia Facebook page, YouTube channel or on One Africa TV on 25 May from 16h00 (CAT).
