‘Too Hot to Handle’

Reality shows never cease to have absolutely insane premises and we’re here for it all, with Netflix once again introducing us to a host of hot, young singles. The group from all around the world meet on an island for a summer of sex, sun and something sneaky.

‘Too Hot to Handle’ is the new kid on the block offering up prize money of US$100 000 – but as expected there’s a tiny catch and a few regulations they’re all going to have to abide by to walk away victorious. What they thought would be a retreat of several weeks long with other sexy somebodies with whom they could flirt, kiss and touch the nights away, is actually not what it seems.

Upon arrival on the island, guests are given time to mingle, get to know each other and pair up based purely on their desire to do some Netflix sanctioned X-rated activities. Some connections are almost instantaneous, while others find each other along the way. Once they’ve gotten comfortable and settled into what they think will be the status quo for their entire stay there, the show is flipped on its head when their automated assistant, Lana, announces some very strict rules. No kissing, no heavy petting and no sex is allowed among any of the guests. This, according to Lana, is to help them gain meaningful connections with each other and teach them to stop putting coitus above all else in their lives.

For an infringement of the rules, money will be deducted from the overall prize. Each transgression obviously has its own value and each time the rules are broken, everybody is affected.

This new announcement definitely brings tension to the group – and not just the sexual kind. Some try their best not to break the rules, others fall into temptation all too quickly, and a small group of participants stir the pot simply to watch the drama unfold.

Not only do they need to keep their zips up, they have to watch everyone else too and make sure nobody jeopardises the possible prize money. One would think it would be an easy competition to win, but early on in the episodes one can already see that temptation can be a difficult thing to resist.

Enemies are made, alliances are formed, secrets are kept and schemes are hatched as each tries to outsmart the rest and avoid being led astray on a very tempting island where everyone seems to have only packed bikinis, sarongs and very short shorts.

‘Too Hot To Handle’ continues to unfold into something frenzied as the episodes progress and each participant gets closer and closer to boiling point.
