Toddler strangled, stabbed to death

THE discovery of the strangled and stabbed body of a two-year-old girl wrapped in a refuse bag led to the arrest of a 19-year-old girl at Gobabis this week.

Little Jorida Narubes, who had been living with her grandmother until the time of her death, was reported missing on Monday morning. Her body was discovered near her home on Tuesday, and that led to the arrest of the young suspect later that day.According to Police spokesperson sergeant Stephan Nuuyi, a witness had seen the 19-year-old girl carry a black refuse bag over her shoulders on Tuesday and thought it suspicious. The witness then apparently followed the girl, until the latter realised that she was being followed. She is then reported to have dropped the bag and fled.Upon inspection of the bag, the toddler’s body was found with a stab wound in the neck, as well as wounds and marks indicating that the child had been strangled. The suspect, who was then identified by the Police witness, was arrested and charged with murder.Police have requested that the name of the suspect be withheld while their investigation continues.
