Tura Magic Football Club’s (FC) captain Neville Tjiueza will not move to African Stars and will remain with his team for at least the next 20 months.
A media statement issued by Tura Magic FC chairman Peter Nakurua on Monday said Tjiueza signed a two-year extension on his contract with the club last October and there were still 20 months left before his contract ends.
This comes after reports in local media that Tjiueza is moving to African Stars.
“We are not party to any decision to release our captain from his current contract, and that is why we deemed it unnecessary to respond to the wild allegations and speculation,” Nakurua said.
He stressed that Tjiueza will remain the captain of the club and a member of the club, and is expected to report to training like other players to prepare for the Namibia Premier League (NPL) games and Bidvest Namibian Cup matches.
“Tura Magic management is fully aware of the laws that govern football, especially about player movement from club to club local or foreign, and we expect any individual or group of individuals of other clubs to follow officially laid-down procedures,” Nakurua said.
He noted that any action regarding player movement can only follow after discussions between the club which is interested in the player, and action can only be taken once mutually beneficial agreements have been reached.
Nakurua requested “individuals, groups of individuals or clubs to refrain from destabilising their clubs and players through unbridled harassment and use of the media to create a wedge between players and management”.
“Tura Magic will not hesitate to report any individual, group of individuals or clubs to the Namibia Football Association for tapping up our players,” he warned.
Tapping up of players involves attempts to persuade a player contracted to one team to transfer to another team without the knowledge or permission of the player’s current team.Nakurua added that his club is open to discuss requests for the releasing of players. – Nampa
