Tigers take sweet revenge

TIGERS took sweet revenge by defeating African Stars 1-0 in their MTC Namibia Premier League football clash at the Independence Stadium on Wednesday night, after they fell to Stars in the knockout stage of the FNB Cup two weeks ago.

The damage by Tigers was done by left-footed defender Jeremia Baisako, whose missile from a free-kick landed in the back of the net from at least 25 metres. Stars beat Tigers 2-1 in the dying moments of their game during the FNB Cup at Mariental, a defeat that did not go down well with the Donkerhoek side, after they were tipped as favourites to go through to the next stage. In another match on Wednesday, also at the Independence Stadium, Ramblers brought an end to SKW’s winning streak with a 2-0 victory. The evergreen Ramblers striker Raymond ‘Lolliepop’ Awaseb and veteran defender Michael Pienaar were responsible for causing the misery to SKW, who earlier won their two opening encounters in the league.SKW have scored six goals in their three encounters so far – they beat Blue Waters 3-2 before dismissing Eleven Arrows 3-0 in the second match of the season.Meanwhile, Stars, who now have one win, one loss and a draw in the premiership, wasted numerous chances as they had the upper hand in the match, with the main culprits being Freedom Puriza and Johannes Seibeb.Stars won their opening match against Eleven Arrows on the weekend of November 11 and 12 and saw goals coming from Erenfried Mbahuma, Brouers Litombo and the new man in defence, Steven Tjeenao.Tigers have so far won twice (against Stars and Oshakati City) and lost once against Golden Bees at Outjo.Dokkies Schmidt, Naka Shimuino and Baisako are the only scorers for the side so far.Stars beat Tigers 2-1 in the dying moments of their game during the FNB Cup at Mariental, a defeat that did not go down well with the Donkerhoek side, after they were tipped as favourites to go through to the next stage. In another match on Wednesday, also at the Independence Stadium, Ramblers brought an end to SKW’s winning streak with a 2-0 victory. The evergreen Ramblers striker Raymond ‘Lolliepop’ Awaseb and veteran defender Michael Pienaar were responsible for causing the misery to SKW, who earlier won their two opening encounters in the league.SKW have scored six goals in their three encounters so far – they beat Blue Waters 3-2 before dismissing Eleven Arrows 3-0 in the second match of the season.Meanwhile, Stars, who now have one win, one loss and a draw in the premiership, wasted numerous chances as they had the upper hand in the match, with the main culprits being Freedom Puriza and Johannes Seibeb.Stars won their opening match against Eleven Arrows on the weekend of November 11 and 12 and saw goals coming from Erenfried Mbahuma, Brouers Litombo and the new man in defence, Steven Tjeenao.Tigers have so far won twice (against Stars and Oshakati City) and lost once against Golden Bees at Outjo.Dokkies Schmidt, Naka Shimuino and Baisako are the only scorers for the side so far.
