Tickets for Springbok match now on sale

Tickets for Springbok match now on sale

TICKETS for the much-anticipated rugby match between Namibia’s Welwitschias and South Africa’s Springboks will go on sale today, the NRU announced yesterday.

The match will be played at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on May 29.
NRU spokesman Jerry Elago said tickets will be sold at various outlets countrywide from today.
Tickets for the open stand cost N$150 and N$250 for the grandstand.
Elago said the NRU earlier finalised a deal to bring the South African national rugby team, better known as the Springboks, for an exhibition match against the Welwitschias.
‘We are focused on making it to the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Our goal is to qualify and make an even bigger impression at this premier world event than we did at the last one in France’, said coach John Williams.
The Springbok game provides an opportunity for the Namibian team to hone their skills against some of the best players in the world.
‘Since the inception of the new leadership we have dedicated a lot of resources towards ensuring increased competitive matches to provide our players enough opportunity to develop their match fitness and sharpen their skills’, said Bucks Bock, NRU’s president.
This game is also the start of many new ventures that the NRU will initiate to develop interest in rugby and provide opportunities for spectators to enjoy quality games on home soil.
‘We are committed to creating a spirit of winning. We want to provide our boys the platform to show their mettle on home soil, so surely the Springboks make a formidable opponent,’ said coach Williams.
‘The teams will square up against each other and we are confident that Namibia will make for a worthy battle between Africa’s number one and two seeded rugby nations.’
For any queries about ticket sales, contact the NRU office at (061) 25 1775 or 25 1717 or send e-mail to nru@internet.com.na.
Elago can also be reached at 081 129 5264.
