Three slain in Kleine Kuppe

THREE people were shot dead “execution style” by alleged robbers in Windhoek’s Kleine Kuppe suburb on Friday evening.

Mario de Souza, his wife Magda, friend Koos Stoop and a family member, Anja Britz, were having drinks next to the swimming pool at a house owned by the De Souzas. The Police said the De Souza couple and Stoop were shot in the head.Anja Britz is the only survivor.The couple’s dog was also killed.The Police yesterday recounted how events apparently unfolded.Shortly before the shooting, the De Souzas allegedly started arguing.Police spokesperson Inspector Hannes !Naruseb, said Anja Britz had told them that she also become involved in the argument with Mrs de Souza, who is alleged to have slapped her in the face.At that point, according to Britz, two armed robbers appeared from the back of the house, after making a hole in the precast wall.Britz reportedly told the Police that Mr de Souza attempted to fight the robbers and was shot in the forehead.He died on the spot Mrs de Souza then tried to rush to help her husband, who was lying on the ground, and was also shot in the head.She died in hospital.The robbers then reportedly turned on Stoop and shot him on the spot.!Naruseb said the robbers reportedly dragged Britz to the house and instructed her to open the door.However, before she could open the door, the alleged robbers fled as neighbours started arriving to check what was happening.They made off with a handbag belonging to Mrs de Souza, which contained her identity documents.!Naruseb said the suspects also took a blue Siemens A35 cellphone and a silver Nokia 6150 with blue stripes.Police have offered a “substantial” reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects in the crime.Late yesterday the DTA condemned the incident.The party’s Chairman, Johan de Waal, said the killing served as a reminder that human rights violations were increasingly becoming a part of the Namibian way of life.He said the incident followed two equally brutal attacks on women in Eros and in Windhoek’s Van Coller street.”The Government cannot be blamed for every criminal act taking place in the country.But when there is a constant increase in criminality in a country, surely the leaders must take note and start doing something to stem and reverse the tide,” he said in a statement.He called on Government to pay attention to the rising crime rate by creating jobs.The Police said the De Souza couple and Stoop were shot in the head.
