Three raped over weekend, police report

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Friday morning after she went to look for donkeys at Onamatende, a village in the Oshikoto region.

The police reported on Sunday that a 28-year-old suspect first pretended to be assisting the girl to look for the donkeys before he raped her.

The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The police also reported that a 31-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a friend, aged 48, at Ongwediva on Friday, after they had been socialising together.

The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

In another incident, a girl aged 16 was allegedly raped by two boys after she accompanied a friend to a memorial service at Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa region.

The suspects left the scene after allegedly committing the crime and are still at large, the police reported.

The complainant was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
