Three murdered over the weekend

THE Namibian Police have reported three murder cases over the weekend.

The incidents were reported in the weekend crime report by police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.

At Otavi on Friday, a 28-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly forcefully grabbed his two-year-old son, Jason Muronga, from his mother’s arms and assaulted him, causing his death.

“The deceased was taken to the Otavi State Clinic and was referred the Otjiwarongo State Hospital, where he was admitted but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police investigations continue,” Shikwambi said.

At Rehoboth, the Namibian Police arrested a suspect who stabbed 34-year-old Steven Immanuel Pieters with a knife, causing his death.

“Pieters died at the scene after he was stabbed with a knife after an alleged argument.

“His next of kin were informed and police investigations continue,” Shikwambi said.

At Nkurenkuru on Saturday, a 28-year-old suspect was arrested after he allegedly killed 17-year-old Kamunoko Sikongo at Gava village.

“The Angolan suspect, who was allegedly separating Sikongo from a fight with his girlfriend, fatally stabbed him with a knife and he died on the spot.

“His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.”

Man drowns at Independence Beach

Meanwhile, Alfeus Saltiel (32) drowned while swimming in the sea at Independence Beach at Walvis Bay on Saturday. Shikwambi said Saltiel’s friends tried to rescue him. Paramedics were summoned to the scene.

Saltiel was declared dead upon arrival at the Walvis Bay State Hospital.

His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

In a separate incident, the body of Shapwa Penelaka (25), was found in the bushes at Efinde village in Oshikunde on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the deceased was bleeding from a wound in his chest, and a shotgun was found tied to a tree next to him.

“His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.”
