The police arrested three men for allegedly being in possession of cannabis and mandrax tablets during a police operation on Thursday morning.
According to police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi, the suspects were intercepted at around 01h20 while travelling in a white Isuzu 260, approximately 26km before Uis.
Shikwambi says they were found in possession of 20 parcels of cannabis and two plastic bags containing 2 037 mandrax tablets. The value of the drugs is yet to be determined.
“The main suspect was under surveillance while on public transport from Windhoek where he went to collect his stock via Omaruru and was picked up by other two suspects from Omaruru to his destination,” she says.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
