THE good rains brought life to some parts of the Namib Desert in the southern part of the country.
It takes good rains to awaken desert lilies, better known as the Sandhof lilies, which grow in a clay pan on farm Sandhoff situated about 40km outside Maltahöhe.
According to the Gondwana Collection website, the highest concentration of Sandhof lilies can only be found at this farm, even though they also grow in some parts of Botswana.
Many local and foreign tourists are expected to visit the farm in the next few days to experience this short-lived natural wonder, as the Namibian sun shortens the lifespan of the plant to only a few days.
Daweb Constituency councilor Herculus Jantze visited the farm yesterday . He invites the nation to visit this part of the country to experience this rare sight in his constituency, which was last seen in 2016/2017.
"All are invited as this is a unique site of Namibia because there is no other area in this country that has about 770 hectares of lillies at once,”said Jantze.
Gates to the farm closes at 18H00.
