Thousands apply to fill nine vacancies

About 4 000 people showed up at Windhoek Central Hospital on Tuesday to take part in a screening process to fill nine positions as cleaners.

Health ministry executive director Ben Nangombe said the posts do not need require a lot of qualifications.

“There were no interviews, but rather people were subjected to a basic written test to narrow down those who qualify and to give all a fair chance to try. The test will have to be marked by staff members, after which a panel for interviews will be set up whereby those who ranked high on the test will be called in for interviews,” said Nangombe.

He further said the fact that so many people showed up was an indication of the economic conditions the country is facing and how people are eager to put food on their tables.

“People out there wish to find a way to make a living,” said Nangombe.
