THE Avid/Social Security Commission debacle is the talk of nation nowadays. You can’t even go to rural areas without being asked whether Kandara really killed himself or whether he was killed – the answers to that question are not known yet.
And if you look at the setup of the State-owned enterprises, namely NamPower, TransNamib, Telecom, NamPost, NamWater, Roads Authority, Air Namibia, Development Bank of Namibia, Roads Contractor Company, the list goes on, most of these companies are run by executives linked to the ruling party and to top it all, they speak the same language as the President of our country and the President of the ruling party. Can somebody please tell me whether these were the only successful candidates who, coincidentally, are all from the “executive” tribe. If you look at what they earn per year together with benefits, it tops the money taken from the SSC by Avid. The Chief Executive of SSC belonged to the “executive” tribe and was the “only successful candidate for that post” but now he has exited because he signed for that famous 30 million. He was brought in through the jobs-for-comrades scam, so why accuse him now of poor job performance? (Obviously he was not qualified enough for that position, otherwise he could not have signed away that 30 million and even the late Kandara himself mentioned that if Tuli lost his job there was a security of N$250 000 waiting for him). That one would risk his reputation and job security for that amount is laughable and an insult to his intelligence, but probably if Avid had paid back the money ‘Tuli’ would still be the chief executive. One wonders what kind of decisions he made at SSC since he was not a logical thinker.I think corruption does not only involve money taken trough fraudulent means but also jobs simply offered to so-called comrades just because he or she belongs to the ruling party or the tribe of the President of the country. As long as jobs are offered to ‘comrades’, Vision 2030 won’t be realised.Anti-Tribalism Via e-mailCan somebody please tell me whether these were the only successful candidates who, coincidentally, are all from the “executive” tribe.
