THE music industry has recently seen the rise of Windhoek-based artist Vincent ‘Die Laaste Hond’ Angula, who got his stage name due to his unique dancing.
Angula rose to fame after his hit ‘Die Bene Kook’ last February, wihch was produced by Mustekeers from Walvis Bay.
“When we saw the nation was feeling the vibe, we chose to give more to create what we have today,” he says.
Angula recently teamed up with Kimzala to released ‘My Laaitie’, which is about young boys killing it on the dance floor.
The video was shot at the Katutura Youth Centre in Windhoek. “This song is also aimed to serve as motivation to bring back the old flava to the industry, and to simply pay respects to our legends. Through the song we choose to do it while they are still alive,” he says.
Angula says he believes in the power of teamwork. “Yes, you can do it alone, but it is also true that you sometimes can’t. Kimzala and I have been homeboys since we were toddlers. Music is a passion we both share, and we have been through the most,” he says.
Other songs under his belt are ‘Winter Coat’ and ‘Jigeleza’.
Angula is currently working on a charity EP he plans to release soon.
He says he has been dancing as long as he can remember. “All the years I have been dancing to other people’s music. I suddenly started dreaming of releasing my own music and dancing to it. So, being able to do this is a dream that has finally become a reality for me,” he says.
“A lot of my friends and relatives back then did not believe in what I manifested. This did not discourage me . . .Whenever my life gets sour, I will make lemonade. A positive mindset is what I choose to carry with me daily because you are what you think,” he says.
Angula says the success he has enjoyed has inspired him to always believe in himself.
