NAMIBIA is being looted under the guise of Public Private Partnership and Black Economic Empowerment, and citizens are not allowed to speak against the pillage of public resources in government and its various institutions.
The recent development at Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) is a testimony that our county is a carcass for vultures. I am afraid that the silence among our youth and the general population of such robbery of people’s resources and assets is not conducive for development and progress. The recent private public partnership and new business strategy of NWR is an enrichment of the elite in Namibia. Those who speak out are labelled agents of the former colonialist or imperialists and want to sabotage the GRN policies under the leadership of Swapo. The majority of our population is living on the promise of Vision 2030 while the current leadership and politicians are stripping public resources through fraudulent procurement schemes, bonuses, and higher salaries. There is no shame in our leadership, particularly Swapo, as all this is happening while the majority is living in the misery of poverty and its affliction on people, particularly women and children. Today, Swapo is still campaigning and lying to the people that Swapo have transformed Namibia into a better place. What economic and social improvement is there in Namibia to be proud of that the Swapo led government has spearheaded? Crime, HIV-Aids, TB, alcohol abuse, gender based violence, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and accompanying suffering is everywhere in Namibia. It’s a sad manifestation that the government is a place where unsuccessful entrepreneurs go to realize their dreams of becoming millionaires. The rest of the population is afraid to ask questions, and only hope that there will be leftovers, which are only given to the fortunate few. Failed business people and managers without any proven record find heaven in the GRN. An environment where competency and accountability does not exist, rather pay increases are based on people’s ability to defend again and find loopholes in the government financial and accounting system. Independent auditors’ reviews are carried out, but not considered as the boards of directors approve payment increases. Namibia since 1990 has become a place where ethics has been eroding and people are not ashamed of their abuse and mismanagement of public resources. The public have been hijacked by the poor argument that we have to pay high salaries to management in public owned enterprises million or otherwise they will go to the private sector. This is a perception that had been promoted by the same people who benefit from such argument. Namibia is a small economy and the private sector cannot absorb everyone, there are people out there who are competent and qualified to operate the public institutions and run them profitably. Don’t we have people in Namibia who just want to be public servants and contribute to the socio-economic progress in Namibia? Or does everyone in Namibia just want to be rich? I don’t think so!Everything is about politics in Namibia, particularly to advance the interest of Swapo and the reward of comrades who will defend even failed government policies and its institutions. Corruption is everywhere, the GRN created the Anti Corruption Commission, yet no one admits that the Swapo led government has been corrupted. The ACC is losing credibility instead of gaining public support. The electorate is too poor to understand that Swapo is looting their resources while they are living in grinding poverty. Vision 2030 will not be realized if pirates, comrades, black (elite) economic empowerment, and Swapo, continue to deceitfully and in a non-transparent manner manage the meagre resources that we have. Finally, the Swapo leadership can continue to loot the country under various fraudulent public private partnership schemes, but someday people will say NO, and the comrades will not have a place that is peaceful and stable to enjoy their stolen wealth. Zimbabwe is our case of study. JWRunduVia e-mail
