Huawei is breaking the number trend thanks to the P30, the popular P20’s sister phone. Tech critics are already impressed with the phone – its camera is its major selling point. After all, that’s what the P in the P series stands for: Photography.
Released on 26 March, the P30’s camera specifications are out of this world – with a massive 40-megapixel camera (and this is just one of its three cameras), we have to say that Huawei is stepping it up in the photography department.
The other two back-facing cameras combine to 24 megapixels, while the selfie camera sports a whopping 32 megapixels.
But that’s not all. If you’ve been running around in tech circles, you’d know that the zoom quality is incredible, but don’t believe everything you see on social media.
There are rumours that the phone zooms in so well, you’d be able to read fingerprints or watch what people are doing from kilometres away. Don’t take this to heart. As great as the zoom function is, it does beg the question – do people really need to have microscopes in their pockets? The spy community is going to love this one, for sure.
Its design is pretty impressive – with a rounded screen and a small bezel meant for the camera, the full screen gives you the ultimate phone experience thanks to the 6,1-inch screen. People with bigger hands will definitely enjoy it.
Weighing 165 grams, it’s a phone that’ll act as an anchor in your pocket, but it’s nothing too major. What you might find annoying, especially when you do not have a cover, is the slight bump from the camera, so you don’t want to leave it lying casually on a table in case some irreparable scratches make an appearance.
The P30 runs on Android 9,0, or Android Pie, while its core processor promises speed and sound. With 64 to 256 gigabytes worth of memory since phone manufacturers are all about keeping that ‘storage full’ message non-existent, you probably won’t need to get a memory card for more space unless you’ve been taking millions of photos. But remember: The greater quality a phone has, the more space photos will consume.
Other features include a USB portal, fingerprint sensors under the display, face detection and a range of colours from aurora to breathing crystal (which is a sleek combination of blue and purple). Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging and reviewers are already saying the P30 Pro is better. But the proof lies in the preference of the user.
Smart glasses are also expected to complement the phone (with a separate purchase, of course), so do keep a lookout for that. As for the pricing, the P30 could go for about N$20 000, but you never know when it comes to costs and shipping!
