‘THE END OF AN ERA’ … Condolences have been pouring in for American veteran civil rights leader reverend Jesse Jackson, who died yesterday at the age of 84. Jackson was a global advocate for justice and equality. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah yesterday said Jackson’s death marks the end of a remarkable chapter in the global struggle for justice. During the years when Swapo was leading the struggle for the liberation and independence of Namibia, reverend Jesse Jackson stood among the many principled voices within the American civil rights movement who supported that just cause,” she said. Former prime minister Nahas Angula yesterday said Jackson was a staunch anti-apartheid campaigner. Jackson (left) received a warm welcome from founding president Sam Nujoma on 16 February 1990.
