PROSTITUTION was illegal in Namibia yet there was a market for it and prominent members of society were ‘buying sex’, a member of the opposition said in Parliament yesterday.
‘If need be, I can identify some of you [buying sex],’ said Ignatius Shixwameni, president of the All Peoples’ Party (APP). Shixwameni was the first speaker on a debate on the national strategic framework on HIV-AIDS tabled by Deputy Health Minister Petrina Haingura last week.Deputy Speaker Doreen Sioka ruled the words of the APP president out of order.’This matter is so serious, so please do not politicise it or make jokes about it,’ Sioka told him. The HIV-AIDS framework is a medium-term plan and for the first three years Government is seeking about N$12 billion.
