MOHALI – Young opener Upul Tharanga struck a sparkling century to spur Sri Lanka to a 37-run victory over Bangladesh in the opening ICC Champions Trophy qualifier on Saturday.

The 21-year-old left-hander hit 11 boundaries and a six in his 129-ball 105 to anchor the innings of 302 for eight in 50 overs after Sri Lanka were asked to bat first in the day-nighter.
