HARARE – Zimbabwe’s president has visited Hong Kong for the graduation of his daughter and thanked authorities there for shielding her from British journalists.
State radio in Harare says Bona Mugabe, 22, received a degree in accounting at the Hong Kong City University yesterday. It says President Robert Mugabe praised authorities ‘for protecting her from harassment’ by British reporters.British reporters were assaulted by Zimbabwean bodyguards twice in 2009 outside a luxury Mugabe family villa in Hong Kong. Authorities took no action against the bodyguards of Mugabe’s secret police.State radio says Mugabe, 87, is on an official visit to Hong Kong and Beijing to seek investment.Mugabe has visited Singapore eight times in the past year, reportedly for medical treatment. – Nampa-AP
